Interview with Anne Nurmi. This interview was made on January 2003, some days before the releasing of the "Echos" album. This interview was made by Iron Records. UPGP (Ukrainian Gothic Portal), AN = Anne Nurmi.

UGP: So, the new album "Echos" will be release. Do you have some words about this?

AN: It is our most emotional album at the moment, we've developed more and again the hope that people will also love this album as well as us; one self should save some time and concentration while listening to it, since other way they do not consume the album.

UGP: What is the difference between "Echos" and the other albums?

AN: There are several diferences, as we arrange the songs, structures and we, in my opinion, were especially capable of expressing what we want with our songs.

UGP: One can find the conception not only in this unique album, but between almost all of them. Do you keep this conception? Or other albums will be different?

AN: It is imposible to say that the future will bring as the songs in the albums, since they are not recorded nor composed.

UGP: Your last solo has been a great success. Are you thinking about doing an album with remixes?

AN: No, we aren't. This is only because we are always interested in listening to how other bands play our songs.

UGP: Do you have an alive tour to promote the new album?

AN: No, we don't. We decided not to do a tour this time, since we need to rest a little. We've been working very hard for almost three years, and it would be good to have a little of rest. Moreover of composing music, recording and producing, we also label ourselves the albums.

UGP: Are you going to appear in Gothic Events? In case you are, where?

AN: There are no defined plans yet, but as soon as we know it, everything will be upload to our web pages, so that it is useful to check them regularly.

UGP: Will be new bands in Hall Of Sermon?

AN: At the moment, there are no new sign of bands.

UGP: What does LACRIMOSA signify to you? Is only work or it is more?

AN: LACRIMOSA is a great part of us and it is near our hearts, this music is our life! We are showing a lot of ourselves in the lyrics, and the music is more than emotional, and it would be dangerous if there is someone who thinks that LACRIMOSA is only a work for us.

UGP: What LACRIMOSA's album do you consider the best?

AN: At this moment we love more "Echos", perhaps because it is the most fresh. But the love for all our albums, each one is strongly related to a part of our lives, and at the same time, doing the album and we don’t want to lose any of them, but chose the best is not very easy.

UGP: Would you like to have more songs in English?

AN: We are writing the lyrics as they come; some of them in English, other in German and other in Finish, we don’t think of what people should find better. We do what our heart is telling us.

UGP: What are your favorite bands nowadays?

AN: David Bowie, The Muse, Alanis Morisette, and some musicians...

UGP: Do you have any idea about an external project, or co-projects?

AN: We are in conditions of achieving our own ideas doing LACRIMOSA, so that, there is no necessity of any other external project at this moment.

UGP: Anne, the most of the music is material written by Tilo. Aren't you ofended for this?

AN: Most of my songs were written by myself, although Tilo is the one who helps me with the arrangements and composition in the computer, since it is more complicated. In the new album, I have no time to get my songs to record, as I was already tired for the tour Tilo told me that he had written too many songs that was time to go to the studio, but I am not ofended yet. Why should I be ofended?

UGP: What is Goth for you?

AN: It is a style of life as in the golden age of the 80s. A great part is the music, but also the ideology and style count.

UGP: What do you know abut the Goth scene in Ukraine?

AN: To be honest, I don't know anything of the Goth Scene there.

UGP: Some little words for your fans in Ukraine?

AN: It is a pleasure to know that also that people there also likes our music. Wishing you also love our new album.
