• Anne Nurmi
Anne Maartjana Nurmi was born on August 22nd,
1968, in Finland.
Since she was a child was guided to the musical
world for her parents, in this way, at an early age she went
to different church's choir groups, studied the basic of keyboards
and learned different symphonies.
In 1987, she and Jyrki formed a band called
"Noidat", later called "Two Witches",
which at that time was one of the few gothic bands existing
in Finland. After different alignments and looking for members
that would express the same musical attitude they had, finally
in 1989 Nauku and Toby joined to them, forming the "Two
Witches" alignment until Anne left the band.
In 1990, "Two Witches" appeared
in the EP Sampler of a unknown magazine with only one song.
In October of the same year, they played in Denmark, Germany
and Italy performing their first European Tour named "The
Witches Are Burning Tour". The alignment for this tour
was formed by Anne, Jyrki, Nauku, Toby, Ari y Juhato. Later,
on December they performed in Finland heading "The Greater
Gothic Festival" and it is important to point out that
this kind of fest was never been done before especially for
gothic music.
In 1993, was released their first album titled
"The Vampire Kiss", under "Cleopatra Records"
stamp, and at the same time the band appears in two compilation
CDs. On October, the Finnish magazine "City" granted
them with the title of "The Best Band of the Year".
On the same month, is released their third CD called “Phaeriemagick”,
starting their European tour under the same name, in which
they visited Finland, Germany and Slovakia.
After finishing the tour with their alignment,
Anne supported a German band called "Lacrimosa"
in its promotional tour, under request of its vocals. However,
Tilo Wolff was convinced of the Anne’s good work during
the tour, and invited her to be a permanent member of the
band, that as we know Anne accepted.
"It is hard to leave "Two Witches"
since I helped to form that band, but I am absolutely sure
that my place is in Lacrimosa". (Words said by Anne Nurmi
when she left "Two Witches").
Finally, on 1994, with the release of the
single "Schakal", Anne is finally joined to Lacrimosa,
being an important part for the band, in which we can notice
a great touch of sensuality that is a particular characteristic
of Anne. Later, with "Inferno", edited in 1995,
we can notice that Anne Nurmi’s quality is showed with
more strength and style, giving the band a new perspective
that is not the best for many people.
